This research seeks to
understanding variations in concepts and practice of community
policing (CP) pertaining to the problem solving efforts in West
Kalimantan and East Nusa Tenggara POLDA. It draws on a hypothesis
that there is a significant relationship between the implementation
of CP and the remarkable increase in problem solving efforts.
By making use of
comparative-participatory method, this research results in field-
findings that the more frequently the CP put into practice, the more
effective problem - solving have become. Data collected are primary
and secondary, which taken from crime reports since 2003 up to 2006
and by ways of focus group discussion and interviews during the
police workshop in both provinces. It is evident from the findings
that both POLDA shows different result of community policing program.
Many factors have influence this difference particularly in regards
to the phases of implementation.
